Mimi.....

Model - Mimi of the 'Crystal Fighters' Make-up / Hair - Yuka Hirata This is the first picture from my first ever 'proper shoot'. It was for a band called the 'Crystal Fighters', and was the scariest, yet most exciting thing I have done with my photography to date. Including the 4 in the band, there were ten of us in total on the two locations. It was the first time i had ever used a make-up artist, and my first shoot using my new camera - so i was basically terrified! I've been unwell for the last 6 weeks and was so worried about doing this, but i can now say it was the best day I have had since losing my mother. It was wild, wonderful, chaos..... we burned armchairs, I had to wear a wetsuit and get in a pond. I made props, mood boards, researched........ it was unlike anything i have ever done before, it was wonderful, and has helped me feel so much better in myself too. I also want to say a HUGE thank you my new 'real-life' flickr friend Kiem - <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/society_works/">www.flickr.com/photos/society_works/</a> who assisted me on the shoot. He provided the lenses and helped enormously with the technical side - I simply could not have done it without him. I also have to thank the lovely Eva, for helping me so much with the styling, and body painting (which involved throwing mud at the male members of the band!!) There's loads to tell and explain about what we did, and who the Crystal Fighters are, and I will write a proper full account in my blog as soon as I get a moment. But for now Its late, and im exhausted, so this is the beautiful Mimi one of the singers in the band.... none of the band have ever modeled before, and they were all amazing.
